The Mijas City Council starts the construction works of a huge 350.000 m2 Park on the Costa del Sol at the value of 32.8 million euros. The development of the first phase will take 18 months.
The ambitious commitment of the Mijas City Council to build this enormous park on the Costa del Sol, with an area of about 350,000 square meters is now a fact. The Consistory starts up the administrative process to contract for a little over 32.8 million euros (VAT included) for the execution works of this green and leisure area.
The term of development of the works that is handled is 18 months from the formalisation of the contract. The budget of the municipality includes a sum of just 2 million euros for this year, distributing the remaining sum between 14.5 million in 2024 and almost 16.3 million in 2025.
Likewise, the original design included an area of 5,000 square meters for children’s games distributed throughout the entire enclosure and a water games area designed for the little ones. 2,000 meters were also drawn for a dog park and areas for the elderly, with board games and pétanque. A running track, bike lane and skating lane will be set up around the perimeter to practice exercise in the open air.
Taking advantage of the land and an existing hillside, the construction of an open-air amphitheater is being considered in order to increase the cultural events in the area.
