The area of Benahavis is located at the western end of the Costa del Sol. It is situated a few kilometers inland between Estepona and Marbella. The municipality covers a large area of approximately 150km2 and stretches from the coast to the mountains. It is unlike other Costa del Sol resorts in the sense that it centers around the tranquil village of Benahavis. Set in the mountains the village retains its traditional Andalusian vibe.
Part of the municipality are areas such as La Quinta, Los Arqueros, Los Flamingos as well as the exclusive El Madroñal and La Zagaleta.
The nature of the area is stunning with numerous mountain ranges, river valleys and woods. Мaking your way down the Guadalmina river through waterfalls and natural pools ranks as one of the top adventure activities on the Costa del Sol. There’s also a river walk that takes you across a bridge and along a traditional Moorish irrigation channel.
At the south end of the village you will find Parque Torre Leoneras with the ruins of a medieval tower and a gorgeous lake. It is also worth vising the partially preserved from the 10th century Montemayor Castle.
