Marbella starts reformations of local schools – the City Council will carry out the actions in the effort to solve structural deficiencies.
The City Council of Marbella is starting a series of subsidiary reformations and repairs in the Federico García Lorca, Vicente Aleixandre and Nuestra Señora del Carmen schools to solve structural deficiencies, as reported this Monday by the councilor of the branch, Diego Lopez.
The mayor has highlighted that these interventions have an execution period between two and three months and a total budget of almost one million euros.
López has detailed that the work “is scheduled to begin in the summer period to take advantage of the absence of students in the centers and not interfere with the schedule.”
In the case of the Federico García Lorca school, the reconstruction of the second section of the enclosing wall is being renovated, in addition to the remodelling of the entrance ramp and the the electrical installation as well as the fire protection system to adapt them to the current regulations.
“Last April, the execution of the first phase was completed, undertaken by the emergency route due to the risk of collapse that existed after the storm of December last year”, specified the mayor, who pointed out that with the new action “We completed the perimeter renovation with a project that will have an execution period of three months and a budget of 650,000 euros.” The period for submitting offers ended on April 12. A project will be carried out at the Vicente Aleixandre, with a budget of almost 90,000 euros and a period of completion of two months, to create a new emergency exit access that allows first aid, firefighting access or evacuation.
Finally, in the El Carmen school, the modernisation of the facilities is planned by adapting the electrical installation and fire protection to current regulations, as well as improvements in accessibility by a ramp and the modification of the access. The carpentry will also be replaced to comply with the minimum width of entrance and evacuation. The project has a bidding budget of almost 250,000 euros and an execution period of two months.
